Step 1
Draw the outline of the picture on the canvas with the help of a pencil. Please be careful not to put much pressure on the pencil while drawing the outline as the canvas can get damaged.
Step 2
After completing the outline, start using the soft pastels to colour either from the top or from the bottom of the canvas to avoid smudging.
Step 3
Use hand, cotton or tissue to blend the colours.

Final Step
Once the art is complete, one can spray fixative to prevent smudging of pastels.
NOTE : Carefully and gradually progress your work, as soft pastels can get smudged easily and it wont be easy to erase or remove it.
