Soft Pastel Art

Step 1

Draw the outline of the picture on a canvas or a sketch pad with the help of a pencil. Please be careful not to apply much pressure on the pencil while drawing the outline as the canvas or sketch pad can get damaged.

Step 2

After completing the outline, start using the soft pastels to colour either from the top or from the bottom of the canvas or sketch pad to avoid smudging.

Step 3

Use hand, cotton or tissue to blend the colours.

Step 4

With the help of a pencil, highlight and shade the different parts of the picture- here its the mountain.

Final Step

Once the art is complete, you can spray fixative to prevent smudging of pastels.

NOTE : Carefully and gradually progress your work, as soft pastels can get smudged easily and it wont be easy to erase or remove it.
