Simply opaque watercolors, also called gouache, are a perfect starting point for artists looking to experiment with gouache. These opaque colours can be used straight from the tube and have excellent covering power.

A primary difference between watercolour gouache & opaque watercolour gouache is that gouache is more opaque than watercolor. When a layer of watercolor is applied, the white paper and any preliminary drawings underneath will show through, whereas when a layer of gouache is applied, the paper will not show through nearly as much.
